Okay, this toner surprised me. I was using Liz Earle’s Skin Tonic and it’s lovely but ever since I got this one, Skin Tonic has taken the back seat. It’s easily available in Boots, Superdrug. It’s £5! Smells like lemon juice, has Vit C which is known to help even-out skin tone. After you apply it, you can feel this tingly warming feeling… I love it, makes me feel like it’s working! Is it really though? I don’t know. I am halfway through the 200ml bottle already, it doesn’t dry out skin. Even though it says it’s for mature skin, I think it will be great on any skin type or age. It’s also on Caroline Hirons favorite toners list. Ticks all the boxes for me!
Agelock, a sub-brand of O3+ (found mostly in salons and spas) has been popping up online. I needed to up the exfoliating factor in my skin regime, thus, this cream appealed to me. Ingredients in this moisturizer is uncomplicated… 8 to be exact. Which is a good thing! They are – Aqua, Cetareth-20, Stearyl Alcohol, Octyl Dodecanol, Sodium Lactate, Glycolic Acid, Pisum Sativum (pea extract) Shea butter, Tocopheryl Acetate.
Before getting into the nitty gritty, let’s remember the harms of over-exfoliating. The way exfoliators work is they remove a very thin topmost layer of your skin. Need I say, you don’t want to do that regularly. Also be aware of any hidden exfoliating ingredients (AHAs, BHAs, Lactic Acid, Licorice Extract, Salicylic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Kojic Acid, fruit enzymes etc) in your products. Don’t forget about sun-protection!
The cream comes in a 50ml bottle with a pump nozzle. The packaging is nice, light and sturdy. One pump dispenses enough product to cover the face.
The texture is creamy and looks slightly oily on skin. I have noticed many products with glycolic acid leave an oily (sometimes sticky too) film. As did this one. The morning after, skin looked slightly greasy. What’s crazy is, under the slickness, my skin showed a visible difference. That was on second day of use. I use this on alternate days. If compared to other “peeling” creams, this one gave me the best results.
This has replaced my favorite overnight exfoliator – The kaya pigmentation reducer. This definitely works faster than Kaya Pigmentation reducer, whose key ingredient is lactic acid. Lactic acid is slow to work but gentler, so probably best for very sensitive skin types.
Has a light, natural floraly-scent that goes away in minutes.
Best on combination-dry skin. Unless you don’t mind the disco-ball face.
Priced at 650-700 INR for 50 ml.
This scrub is straight up lemons and lime. It can be off-putting if you don’t like citrusy smells. I don’t really mind. This salt based scrub looks like mashed kiwi fruit and comes in a plastic tub.
How to use: Dampen your skin with or without using cleanser first. The texture is too dry to use without some water. Then scrub in a circular motion. Do not scrub too hard or in one direction to avoid scratching skin. Moisturize after.
It’s 90 percent organic, packed with few lovely oils. It is not drying nor is it moisturizing making it suitable for most skin types. My skin leans on the sensitive side but this didn’t hurt or turn it red. Of course you have to be careful, like with most coarse scrubs to not scrub too hard. Overall, it does not impress me. It’s just an ordinary scrub that does the job. Although, I am keen on getting one of the body polishes next. They have five other types -Balancing Lavender, Nourishing Strawberry, Soothing Orange, Pureza body polish and Manana body polish.
This is what the website says about it:
This Unique formulation of body scrub gently exfoliates the dead skin cells with its mixture of organic oils of lime, lemon, mandarin, lemon verbena, sunflower oil, cottonseed oil, organic coconut shell powder and crushed Himalayan salts. This unique formulation does not leave any oil residue on the skin like other traditional oil based body scrubs. It leaves the skin completely dry and moisturized after washing. Made especially for those with oily and acne prone skin.
Azafran scrub is available for 200 INR for a 100 gm tub at Azafran store.
It feels like the hottest summer day today and I woke up feeling parched -inside and out! Luckily, had this little guy handy.
