Bare Minerals tinted foundation is bloody gorgeous. It’s hydrating on dry skin, easy to reapply and never looks cakey on me. I most definitely prefer this over Bobbi Brown’s serum foundation. In a nutshell – better coverage and finish, packaging is lovely and light to carry around. Reviewed here.

Oskia Renaissance Mask. One word – luxurious. Smells lovely, feels lovely and it works. I am tempted to buy everything from this brand. This mask is good on all skin types especially for someone sensitive to glycolic acid. Full review here. I have stopped using exfoliating products in my daily skincare routine. Moving towards a gentler exfoliation approach with a mask once or twice a week. This along with Aesop Parsley seed mask does amazing things.

nuxe creme fraiche rich.jpg

Nuxe Creme Fraiche. I have to say, the scent of this is replulsive but it’s great on dry skin and under foundations. It’s hydrating, leaves a slight sheen on me but not look sweaty.

rimmel scandaleyes trespassing taupe.jpg

I was sure I tried tons of makeup this month, but can only think of one right now? Tresspassing Taupe from Rimmel’s scandaleyes collection is a neutral brown that’s slightly lighter than my natural eyeshadow. There’s many ways to wear it, I sport it as a daytime smoky eye or use it to add definition on the center of my eyelid. This does not crease on me at all. It claims to stay in for 24 hours -about 6-7 hours on me. It tends to lose its hold after that. The pencil is soft and blends out easily, stays put for few hours after drying. It makes a lovely base. My only tiff -the packaging is a disaster. It needs to be sharpened which might seem pety to some but I know it’s going to end up in a corner at some point.

and other stories nail.jpg

& Other Stories nail varnish in Linsey Salmon is a bright coral. I expected it to be slightly muted, it turned out to be a neon coral. It’s not the best formula, does come out a bit streaky. How pretty is their entire varnish collection though? They have tons of lovely summer brights.

monthly favorites boxy town.jpg

The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Oil. I still love the Ultrabland but using a flannel everyday got annoying. So I switched to a rinse out formula and this is lovely. It turns milky when mixed with water and washes out easily without drying the skin. Not sure if I got a faulty bottle but the pump in mine isn’t smooth enough. To avoid it splashing in my eye every time, I happen to look like I’m having a fit. Not pretty but atleast it gets the job done!

Never tried this scrub from Soap & Glory before – Sugar crush smells like a strong lemonade. I like how this sticks to the skin and is slightly more abrasive than the Breakfast scrub.

It looks so good on medium tan skin. YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in Orange Impertinent is slightly on the orange side, so summery and perfect for the daytime.

Aesop parsley seed mask.jpgaesop parsley seed mask.jpgAesop Parsley Seed mask is lovely on dehydrated/dry skin. I can’t usually use clay masks because of the horrible way they pull on the skin and leave the skin stripped of any oil. If you have the same problem, you’ll be pleased to know this one didn’t do that!

April Favorites

boxytownfavoritesUltrabland Cleanser Lush reviewmaybellinegreatlashmascara.jpgThere’s a nice mix of favorites this month. I love seeing foods, apps and random things people are loving. So I decided to include them whenever I have any. Some oldies, some exciting new things. Still using Ultrabland, love this stuff. It works well with my skin. Also picked up Maybelline’s great lash mascara. The brush is narrow and has a twisty spaced out design, picture explains it better. That works well if you need to add just a little volume at the base or lower-lashes. It holds a curl well and that’s all I need most days.

DanielSandlerwatercolourblushinchicdaniel sandler water colour blush in chicdaniel sandler water colour blush in chicDaniel Sandler’s water colour blush on my wishlist since I saw them on Xuvious– an Indian blogger, she has the shade “Flush”. I have been loving the shade “Chic” which is subtle nudey peach with some silver shimmer. Daniel Sandler’s webste describes it as -Pastel-toned peach shade with silver highlights. Suits Fair skin tones as a delicate cheek colour, and a Tanned or Dark skin tone as an elegant cheek highlighter. Usually I am a bit of a wimp when it comes to blushes, but this really got me going. “Chic” is a nice mix of highlight and blush on my skintone. The shimmer, like in the picture (click to expand) is barely visible unless in direct light. (more…)

March Favorites

march favorites 2015Ultrabland Cleanser LushUltrabland Cleanser Lush reviewUltrabland. One step cure for very dry flaky skin. On the risk of sounding a bit farfetched, I have to put it out there, that this put my skin at ease on first application. Not the most pleasant smelling, but it is wonderful for what it does.

E45. This is such a basic cream. Recently upgraded to a massive tub. I would say this one is a Brit version of french pharmacy must-haves. Combined with Ultrabland, this duo has helped me get my skin back to normal. It does nothing else but moisturize.weleda skin foodWeleda Skin food. While herbal scents are not particularly pleasant to me, I like the smell of this. It’s not an usual petroleum based multipurpose balm and feels nice on the face too – not sticky and gross. Atleast on mine, I have very dry skin right now. I wrote about it in a previous post too.

February Favorites

1. Thermal Spring Water by La Roche Posay is one of those unnecessary buy feels-so-nice product. Particulary soothing after an eyebrow (or any facial area) threading/waxing session.

2. Hyaluronic Body Gel by Nip + Fab is such a pain to use everytime after shower, but the smell of this makes up for it. More details here.

3. Hand Food and Soap & Glory go hand in hand. Now, say that out loud.

Sloap? What? Nevermind.

4. Amazing Concealer is really amazing. I am worried I talk about it too much so I am going to let you hunt down a page dedicated to it.

5. Rare Blend Oil is extremely hydrating, can be used on wet or dry hair and smells amazing. More about it here.

6. No.7 Precision Lip Pencil in #Nude is the most gorgeous my-lips-but-better colour. It is too drying to smother it all over but makes a lovely liner, as it is intended for.

January Favorites

Alpha-H Micro cleanse, January favoritesAlpha-H micro cleanse reviewAlpha-H Micro cleanse. Basically a facial scrub, to be used twice a week. I actually look forward to using this, gorgeous little pick-me-up. It is an AHA product, makes the skin glowy, fresh looking.. everything I expected. This and Pepta Bright together has helped reduce my acne scars tremendously!

Miss Sporty Clar mascaraMiss Sporty Just Clear Mascara. Used as an eyebrow gel. Didn’t know I needed it until I saw it on ThatGraceGirl.com. I don’t have particularly unruly eyebrows but this helps me define and keep the shape throughout the day.

Beauty bay blending spongeBlending Sponge. This makes blending so freakin’ easy. What was my life before this! I found that, no matter how bad the concealer or foundation, a good blending sponge will blend it out seamlessly. I foresee beauty blender in my make-up stash soon. This particular one I have in the picture, I wouldn’t suggest. It is from the beauty bay collection, it works, but look closely, it started showing “tear marks” within few weeks of using it.

Urban Decay Primer. I like wearing this on it’s own. Love how it smoothens and evens out my natural eye shadow. I have not been wearing much makeup this month. It’s been all about even, glowy skin with some concealer and Fresh Cherry Lip Tint in Peach slapped on.

la roche posay hydraphase, neutrogena hand cream, indeed labs retinolloreal micelar water and age perfect tonerE45 creamE45 cream

Having tried few Indeed Lab products, Retinol reface is my favorite. It’s only maybe two applications away from being empty which makes me sad cos it really did make a difference. Used it in conjunction with Hydraphase sunscreen from La Roche Posay, for 50ml, surprised it’s still not empty. Haven’t come across a body lotion or hand cream that does a better job than the Norwegian formula from Neutrogena, at that price. Oh wait, there is E45, which I like more cos it can be used on the face too.Soap and Glory body scrubsspa sanctuary body souffleSpa Sactuary body butterSLS free shampooLoreal Vector Force ReviewBreakfasts scrub from Soap and Glory is the bomb. Love most of their scrubs but the smell of that one scrub is just so (aptly named) yummy. Spa sanctuary set was a present and I’m so glad it was given to me because I wouldn’t really pick them myself if I saw them in a store. The mande lular smell is gorgeous. Give it a whiff if you see it. The body souffles are light, airy and perfect for summer. The body butters are heavier in consistency and moisturizing factor, nice for colder months.

Loreal’s hair expertise range is quite something. What really dragged me in was that all the products in the range are sulphate free. I am not sure if sulphates are really a problem, but the products work. The shampoo, conditioner and mask with golden packaging are the best ones. Vector force cream, which is to be used in damp hair, before blowdrying. It acts as a heat protectant.

Sesiphase reviewAgelock resurface night creamSensiphase does a good job at soothing, like it says. Sometimes, I felt like it was not as hydrating as I would like. Oily skin types, or people who generally prefer a mat look will like this. Resurface night cream is best for dry to normal skin, it’s incredibly hydrating. The exfoliating factor in it is not as potent that you would feel tingling or see any immediate difference. This was my to-go moisturizer many nights where I just wanna go to bed ASAP.

Philip Kingsley Elastisizerbotanics facial oil reviewAzafran SoapElasticizer -Athough discovered at the very end of last year, I have to include it cos it was frankly, a miracle product for my hair. I have written about it here. Overtime, I have started using Botanics face oil everywhere but my face. I love it. It’s a lovely moisturizer, on the face sometimes, can feel a bit too much. I love this one for below the jawline moisturizing. Azafran’s rosemary and cream soap is made of dreams, It’s one thing I haven’t found a dupe of. Still remember the fragrance of this one, it was so good.

I have discovered tons of good stuff last year but this year I really want to try out some high-end skincare. Being 28 now, think it’s time to re-evaluate what my skin really needs. I am currently reading the book “pretty honest” by Sali Hughes and I have to say, for someone who started using an eyecream at age 16, to read that is unnecessary is quite mind-altering. This book has changed my perspective, I now look at toners as scented waters. So I am doing a little experiment of excluding toners and eye cream completely for a month or so. Next post is a little haul and personal goals for 2015.
